Kuoni opens new luxury travel store in the heart of Nottingham's shopping heartland, Bridlesmith Gate. The store is a landmark opening for Kuoni, as it is the 'tenth' luxury travel store opening for the company in the UK, and is part of an ongoing strategy for retail growth over the next 18 months.

The new store has created six jobs locally and follows the recent opening of five chic and exotic Kuoni travel stores in Bristol, Milton Keynes, Bluewater, Solihull and Cheltenham.

The Nottingham opening is seen as yet another great location for the luxury holidays brand as it re-writes the history books on the look and feel of travel stores of the future. The Nottingham store has sumptuous seating, natural wood desks and brochure display areas; video screening to exhibit the far flung and exotic destinations on offer and a team of dedicated and well travelled advisors will be making sure shoppers have an enjoyable and memorable experience when they book a Kuoni holiday.

Derek Jones, Kuoni Distribution director explained: "We are proud and excited to open a store in Nottingham. We hope to have an enthusiastic welcome from the City and quickly become a 'must visit' store for the three million or so people who live within one hour of Nottingham's city centre.

"We want to encourage shoppers to visit Kuoni as part of their regular shopping trips. Anna Muir, the store manager and her team literally have the world at their fingertips and visitors to the store can book anything from an around the world trip to a weekend break."

Anna Muir added: "Nottingham is a vibrant city with a great reputation as a destination for shopping, and we want to encourage people to shop for holiday ideas and inspirations throughout the year, not just when they think they need a holiday. We want customers to browse our store the same way they shop for other luxury purchases."

Cllr Penny Griggs, Sheriff of Nottingham, commented: "We are delighted to have a leading travel brand like Kuoni in our midst. Nottingham has a wealth of both local and international business offering fashion, beauty, technology, music and sports brands and Kuoni is a welcome addition to what we have to offer local shoppers. Kuoni offer a truly dynamic new approach to buying travel for every budget and have over 100 years experience in the travel business. Now we can book our family holidays, weekend breaks or inspirational holidays of a lifetime and then enjoy shopping for the perfect holiday wardrobe in the other great stores we have in our city centre."

Derek Jones concluded, "We hope to change the way consumers shop for holidays. Kuoni have an enviable reputation for first class customer service from a team of well travelled and dedicated travel advisors who work in-store and Nottingham will be no exception. We hope to make every holiday booked the well deserved break from everyday life that we all need."

Kuoni, commissioned survey reveals why 74% of UK households agree that holidays can change the course of our relationships.

27 million Brits are about to take their summer breaks and for many the next few months will be a pivotal time in their lives as holidays are one of the most powerful ways to help couples decide if they are in the right relationship.

According to a new survey by luxury family holidays operator, Kuoni Travel, being with a loved one 24/7 can help couples get reacquainted, with some even decide to marry (54%), start a family (46%) or move in together (42%). However a staggering 59% decide to divorce or separate after their holiday experience.

Leading relationship councillor, Christine Webber, commented:

"It's certainly true that you don't know someone till you've been on holiday with them. As a therapist more people come to see me for the first time after their holiday than at any other time of the year. And it's always about their relationship.

"The good news is that for couples who are happy together a holiday is a marvellous opportunity to reconnect. Sharing much more intimacy than at home can really boost levels of oxytocin, which is the hormone that is responsible for us feeling bonded and content. Years ago, I surveyed a large group of women about when they felt sexiest and 96% of them told me that they felt most fruity on holiday. Men take note.

"Sometimes though, it does the opposite. In my view, it's a good idea to discover these kinds of differences before buying a house together, marrying or having children. So a holiday can be seriously life changing – but in a very good way. In a sense the holiday speeds up the inevitable split. It's a catalyst. If a couple are going to break up, it's not a bad thing to realise this on holiday when there are no distractions around them."

According to the survey attitudes between men and women differ with 78% of women agreeing that holidays make or break relationships compared to 68% of men. Younger generations were even more adamant about this statement with 81% saying its make or break time on a holiday.

However for those women in a lack-lustre relationship 25%, believed that a holiday might help them re-ignite passion as over a third said a break helped them get re-acquainted with their partner.

Notes to editors:
Kuoni commissioned Opinion Matters to carry out the independent survey at the end of 2009 with a nationally representative panel of 2,100 UK adult respondents. To understand the psychology of what happens on holiday Kuoni asked questions of a personal nature, such as why and how holidays affect relationships and how holidays can aid life-changing decisions.

The Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Brussels, has become the first hotel in the city to gain the Green Key for its huge environmental efforts.

The Green Key is an international and worldwide available eco-label awarded to leisure organisations and facilities. It demands the fulfilment of a list of environmental requirements containing a number of criteria.

Besides environmental demands, such as controlling the production of waste and the use of water and electricity, the criteria include also demands on policy, action plans, environmental education and communication.

Apart from the international baseline criteria each country also adds 20% of national criteria taking into account legislation, infrastructure, policies, and climate of the country to ensure adjustment to national and cultural characteristics.

With the obtainment of the Green Key plus past awards and actions the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel demonstrates to the industry that a large-scale hotel can maintain and indeed enhance its commercial performance through ensuring environmental sustainability as a main factor of its ethos and operations.

Taking responsibility for the environment and the local community plays an important role for the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel and the Rezidor Hotel Group in general. Just like the hotels in Brussels, all properties take part in a dedicated Responsible Business programme with each hotel having a unique action plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. The programme has been in place since 2001 and is one of the strongest commitments to reducing the environmental impact of hotels in the hospitality industry.

The Radisson Blu Royal Hotel has gained several achievements in recognition of its Responsible Business Programme. It is inter alia the first Brussels hotel to hit the maximum third star as 'Ecodynamique Enterprise', an official Belgian label towards environmental efforts. It was also the first Brussels hotel to be ISO9001 certified and is currently working towards the ISO14000 label which puts special emphasis on environmental issues.

As part of its social engagement, the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel works closely with Childhood and other organisations helping people in need. Latest actions include selling soup at the Christmas market, vending shower twisters to guests and staff and running the 20km marathon of Brussels all in benefit of Childhood.

Furthermore, together with other Radisson Blu properties in the Benelux it is sponsoring Serve the City's Big Volunteer Week in July, offering financial sponsorship as well as staff volunteering for different actions to help people in Brussels, such as doing garden or house work for disabled people or collecting clothes for the homeless.

Throughout the calendar year, the hotel will conduct various further activities based on its Responsible Business programme.

Superbreak, the theatre break specialist, is looking forward to an exciting year of theatre. The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane is the theatre where all the news is coming from. The hit musical Oliver! will close at Drury Lane on 8 January 2011, it's been one of the real success stories of the past few years in Theatreland. It opened in January 2009 with record-breaking advance sales and has been Superbreak's top selling show for the past 2 years, taking over £6 million in package sales.

Despite the sad loss of a crowd favourite, excitement has been building about its replacement, last week it was announced that the smash Broadway hit Shrek is now coming to the West End after months of speculation. Superbreak will have show and hotel packages on sale from October with the Academy Award-winning Dreamworks favourite opening in May 2011.

Head of Theatre at Superbreak, David Thomas commented: "Having just seen Shrek in Chicago this weekend, I'm confident it's going to be a huge West End hit, anyone who loved the Dreamworks films will enjoy this all-singing, all-dancing modern-day fairy tale. It's a worthy successor to Oliver!."

Last year Superbreak sold almost 150,000 London theatre breaks packages and this mega hit movie turned West End show is expected to be one of the biggest hits of 2011. Flexibility is the key to Superbreak's success in Theatreland and ensures its ongoing popularity. Customers have the choice of over 100 Central London hotels plus their own choice of show ticket making the packages affordable for all budgets. The ability to add rail and sightseeing to a theatre break allows Superbreak to stand out from the rest of the market in a very competitive sector.
