San Antonio, Texas – In April 2006, 27 year-old Daria Lynn Pursel was diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer and given two months to live. Married in the hospital and for the honeymoon they would never share, San Antonian author Gabriel Lara made a deathbed promise to take her remains and scatter them all over Europe. As fate would have it, her first husband offered to and accompanied Gabriel on what would be a life changing, six week, backpacking pilgrimage.

Now after backpacking Europe four times in two years, Gabriel has begun a first-of-its kind travel charity called A Passport To Giving. Its mission is to fulfill the last travel wish of terminal cancer patients.

To raise money for the new charity, Gabriel has released his own European Travel Guide entitled 'Secrets of European Travel' which has already been distributed in 39 countries worldwide.

'100% of all bookings through the travel guide raise money for 'A Passport To Giving' and we are looking to provide the first grants by the end of this year' stated Gabriel.

This is Gabriel's third guide on budget European travel. The other two guides 'The European Airport Survival Guide' and '101 Free Things To Do In Europe' are now included as free gifts with 'Secrets of European Travel'.

He is available for interviews and will both entertain and educate your audience.

Taos Ski Valley, long known for its commitment to conservation and eco-friendly measures, has taken additional 'green' steps for the 2010-2011 ski and snowboard season. Most significantly, Taos Ski Valley will help lower the impact of 100 percent of its energy usage through carbon offsets from Renewable Choice Energy, one of the country's leading providers of energy and environmental solutions for businesses and consumers. Secondly, Taos Ski Valley has purchased new snow-cats and snowmobiles that are significantly more fuel-efficient and quiet than traditional machines. This will help reduce the Valley's carbon footprint even more, while cutting down on noise pollution in the mountain ecosystem.

'We make these decisions because it's our way of life here,' said Adriana Blake, Administrative Manager. 'When you live in an environment as beautiful as Taos Ski Valley, you can't help but understand how important it is to reduce energy usage and do your part in cutting carbon emissions.'

Along with the five million kilowatt hours of energy offsets and the cleaner, more fuel-efficient snow machines, Taos Ski Valley also has a significant recycling program in place for residents and tourists. It has reduced its consumption of water bottles by encouraging skiers and snowboarders to bring their own reusable water bottles. This season, in an effort to continue to reduce plastic waste, the Valley will be selling water in recyclable cardboard boxes, similar to juice boxes.

'I can't think of anything more important than saving the natural landscape that is our home,' added Blake. 'I hope that our skiing and snowboarding visitors this year will rally behind these eco-friendly measures and help us keep Taos Ski Valley green.'

About Taos Ski Valley
With more than 305 inches of average annual snowfall and more than 110 trails, Taos Ski Valley is New Mexico's premier skiing and snowboarding destination. The only major family-owned and operated ski resort in all of America, Taos Ski Valley boasts a unique relaxed atmosphere, pristine scenery and unparalleled skiing and snowboarding. Five of the best-known hotels in Brussels are on a single system for procuring quality ingredients to support those property's eight food and beverage outlets and world-class banquet facilities.

'Adaco .NET provides our operations with an effective and workable system to control costs and purchase all goods and services' said Anthony Houghton, Purchasing Director for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Brussels. 'Our chefs use it everyday, some are taking pictures so they can ensure an accurate presentation with items using the recipe costing function.'

In a recent bid, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide selected Adaco.NET to optimize recipe management in Starwood's owned and managed hotels in North America. In Brussels, Starwood properties deployed Adaco .NET earlier this year and use it for all food and beverage, printing and stationery, uniforms, guest amenities and cleaning products, 'Almost everything the hotels purchase,' Houghton said.

Houghton said the advantage of having a single system allows Starwood to negotiate with suppliers across the area and take advantage of volume purchasing. 'Each hotel can order independently from local suppliers and benefit because we're buying for five hotels.'

Once logged in, managers are able to move from property to property without logging out if they are responsible for more than one hotel, Houghton said. 'This gives you the advantage of consolidated reporting at the end of the year at whatever level of detail is required.'

In addition, Adaco .NET helps Starwood achieve its goal of reducing paper use. 'All purchase requisitions are sent electronically and the PO can be sent directly to the supplier,' Houghton said. The properties use hand-held bar code readers tied to Adaco .NET to confirm the arrival of deliveries, providing additional cost controls and simplifying accounting.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts operates five properties in Brussels namely, Le Méridien Brussels, Sheraton Brussels Hotel, Sheraton Brussels Airport Hotel, Four Points by Sheraton Brussels and the brand-new Aloft Brussels Schuman, the first of Starwood's new urban-inspired Aloft hotels in Europe.

'Starwood Brussels is to be commended for their dedication to taking paper out of the process wherever it makes sense,' said Ian Hocking, Director of Adaco Europe. 'They were able to move smoothly to our .NET offering and have discovered many direct benefits of that conversion.'
