My Port of Call is pleased to announce the launch of its new website, www.MyPortOfCall.com. The website was designed as a listing service to connect boat slip owners with boaters across the world looking for vacant boat dock space in their intended cruising destinations.

October 29, 2010 – My Port of Call was developed by experienced boaters who understand the unique needs of both boat and dock owners and the importance of finding available boat slips in ideal boating destinations. My Port Of Call has developed a unique and searchable database of available boat slips across the world, making searching for premier boat slips both quick and easy.

My Port of Call's dynamic searchable database of available boat slips matches boat specifications and owner preferences with boat slips meeting those exact specifications. With My Port of Call's sophisticated database, users do waste time viewing boat slip listings that do not meet their boat's needs or their personal preferences.

A boat slip listing exposes vacant boat slips to boat owners across the world searching for the ideal location to dock their boats, either permanently or at their next cruising destination. Boat slip and boat dock owners pay a small monthly fee to list their available boat slips for sale or for rent on www.MyPortOfCall.com. However, for a limited time, My Port of Call is offering a free 30-day listing to advertise in its boat slip listing service.

Further, My Port of Call has developed its own blog containing articles and information of interest to boaters. My Port of Call plans to add many additional features to the website in the very near future, including sample boat slip rental and purchase contracts, event calendars, vacation rentals, boat charters and a variety of other boat services.

To place a free listing in My Port of Call's listing service, or to search for available boat slips in boating destinations across the world, visit www.MyPortOfCall.com for more information.

Thistle Hotels has announced the appointment of Alan Whiteley as general manager of Thistle Brands Hatch hotel. Already a respected general manager within the company, Whiteley makes the move from Thistle Middlesbrough, where he was responsible for significantly raising the profile of the hotel in the region and helping it become the star performer of the group.

Starting his hotel career as a kitchen porter when he left school, Whiteley has built up a wealth of experience over the 17 years he has worked in the hotel industry. Not content with being a porter for long, he quickly worked his way up to take on a number of senior roles, including regional head chef and operations manager, before taking on his current role as general manager.

In his new role, Whiteley will oversee the day-to-day management of the hotel and its staff, along with the overall direction of the hotel. Overlooking the Brands Hatch motorsport race circuit, an immediate focus for him is to build on the ideal position of the hotel and help drive occupancy rates amongst the leisure and business markets.

Commenting on his move, Alan Whiteley said: "Coming from Thistle Middlesbrough, a high performing hotel with a fantastic profile in the region, I certainly knew I had a challenge ahead of me, but it was one I just couldn't turn down. Having undergone a recent refurbishment, Thistle Brands Hatch has huge potential and this is a great opportunity for me to really put my mark on it. I've got lots of ideas and I aim to quickly make Thistle Brands Hatch the flagship hotel of the group."

Darren Patt, regional operations director, Thistle Hotels, commented: "A great deal of effort is being put into raising the profile of Thistle Brands Hatch, particularly amongst motorsport fans, as its location is second-to-none. Alan is a fantastic general manager with a proven track record and we're confident he's up to the challenge of putting the hotel back on the map."

Whiteley lives in North London with his wife and three children.

For 2011, in response to many requests, About Argyll Walking Holidays is launching two new hiking vacations in Scotland, one to the Small Isles and the other to Shetland, and is sure both will be great successes.

The Small Isles in Scotland are surely amongst everyone's favourite childhood islands with their funny, magical names…Rum, Canna, Eigg and, gloriously, Muck. Favourite names, perhaps, but not so easy to visit at the drop of a hat, because of the one thing dream islands should always have along with beauty, tranquillity and mystery…thoroughgoing remoteness. About Argyll will sort out all the logistics, get you there and then promises to let the islands do what they do best…enchant during this hiking trip. For details of this hiking trip in Scotland go to http://www.aboutargyll.co.uk/pages/small.htm

From the Gael to the Viking. "A visit to Scotland's nearest approach to the midnight sun was requested by so many About Argyll clients that we would have been very silly not to have added this hiking vacation into our programme' says Frieda Bos, director of About Argyll Walking Holidays. And so here it is for 2011, a hiking tour to Shetland, where Norway ruled until 1469 and where the names of places and people tell a Viking tale, not a Gaelic one. A northern remoteness after the western remoteness of the Small Isles, with a culture stunningly on display in archaeological gems across the archipelago, from Jarlshof to Mousa and a thousand less famous but equally special places. And as for Shetland's wildlife… just to mention it is to invite too many superlatives. A week hiking here, says everyone at About Argyll, is frankly unforgettable. For details of this hiking tour to Shetland go to http://www.aboutargyll.co.uk/pages/shetland.htm

About Argyll Walking Holidays, as the name suggests, started in Argyll in Scotland. Since 1995 it has run high-quality, essentially personal hiking vacations there, building up a reputation for care and quality. Deliberately small-scale, it has created a community from amongst its clients, who quickly become friends. Full details of all of About Argyll's hiking trips can be seen on its website at http://www.aboutargyll.co.uk
