Annually the NJ Governor's Conference on Tourism is held – a joint venture of the New Jersey Travel Industry Association and New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism. A tradition is to award the 'Governor's Tourism Award' to outstanding businesses who drive tourism commerce to New Jersey and contribute to the bottom line. This year the winner of the Website Category was Delaware River Tubing and The Famous River Hot Dog Man.

Owner, Greg Crance uses the website as a powerful marketing tool to attract visitors to the area. Its success targets what visitors want in an attraction: How much does it cost, are they going to have fun, and where and what they are going to eat. Every page of the website answers these questions: 'Delaware River Tubing offers a great way to spend a day floating down the lazy river Tubing, rafting, canoeing, or kayaking including an exclusive FREE BBQ halfway on your adventure next to a private Island with picnic tables in the water with "The Famous River Hot Dog Man, since 1987."

Owner, Greg Crance, a former US Marine, started as "the Famous River Hot Dog Man" in 1987 and serviced tubers from the banks of both Bucks County and Hunterdon County. Delaware River Tubing, Inc. in 2003 began to offer an all-inclusive inexpensive option to appreciate the beauty and freedom of the Delaware River. The all-inclusive option keeps customers from having to bring any food on the river, which minimizes trash left behind! Despite their efforts Delaware River Tubing and the Famous River Hot Dog Man are committed to clean up the river, even from other traffic sources.

Greg manages the business with the help of the Crance clan – wife Megumi, parents Ralph and Ann Marie, and four boys – Yuuji, Mathew, Rick and Seth. Together they tackle all aspects of the business from marketing and sales to cooking at the Famous River Hot Dog Man Stand. Greg also employs the local youth and school bus drivers who are looking for summer income. While he has been approached by organizations that offer exchange students work programs, Greg prefers supporting the local community. When you are on the river with the Crance family you are in good hands.

Starting 2011 Delaware River Tubing also will be offering eco-friendly Zip Line tours. Delaware River Tubing has a small kayak and canoe rental at Bulls Island State Park making the park an ideal place for camping for groups and those that want to escape. The park maintains campsites on the island, including 44 tent and trailer sites and a group wilderness campsite that can accommodate 7-25 people. Whether it is tubing, kayaking or the zip lines, all of Delaware River Tubing activities focus on the importance of preserving fragile Delaware River resource, while providing responsible recreation, teaching about and protecting the environment. Environmental awareness, safety, and respecting private property are the number one concern of Delaware River Tubing and the Famous Hot Dog River Man.

Delaware River Tubing also supports important causes through annual events. The first Saturday in July they will be hosting the 2nd Annual Gay Day Pride Floatilla. With the help of Kingwood Township, they will host the 10th Annual Kathy's Tube for the Cause on August 6, 2011. Proceeds from the event will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Greg sees the potential customers that his evolving business can bring to the area. There are two kinds of attractions – those that people stumble upon in their travels and those to which people plan their travel. Not all businesses can inspire someone from New York City or Philadelphia to get in their car and drive an hour and a half. Tubing on the Delaware can. Other businesses prosper, from gas stations and convenience stores to the unique shops just a few miles up the road from the launch. Tourism does mean business, and not just for the Crance family. Nearby communities, the County and New Jersey benefit as Greg continues to draw visitors from other states for tubing on the Delaware with a free BBQ meal next to a private Island with picnic tables in the WATER!

In 2008 Delaware River Tubing won the NJ Restaurant Association Diamond Award for the unique role they play on the river for NJ Tourism. Delaware River Tubing and Delaware River Tubing and The Famous River Hot Dog Man is located next to the beautiful Delaware River in Kingwood, NJ just South of Frenchtown, NJ. Delaware River Tubing is located at 2998 Daniel Bray Highway (Route 29), Frenchtown, NJ 08825. Visit www.delawarerivertubing.com or call 908-996-5386 for more information.
