ROCHESTER, MN – February 28, 2013 – EXHIBITOR Media Group, the leader in trade show and corporate event marketing education, today announced the results of EXHIBITOR magazine's 2013 Economic Outlook Survey, which indicate exhibitors remain hopeful this year will produce better returns than 2012. 
 
While 24 percent of exhibitors have smaller trade show budgets in 2013 than in 2012, 30 percent are enjoying larger budgets, and an additional 46 percent are maintaining last year's allocations. However, 19 percent of respondents anticipate that a portion of their trade show budget may be reallocated to other marketing activities this year.  Yet more than 81 percent reported feeling 'confident' or 'extremely confident' that their trade show programs will achieve better results in 2013 than in 2012.
 
'As much as we hate to admit it, the Great Recession may be over, but it's still impacting our lives and our industry,' commented Travis Stanton, editor, EXHIBITOR magazine.  'But it's worth noting that when asked how exhibitors feel about the effectiveness of trade shows as a marketing medium, 83 percent reported being optimistic or at the very least hopeful.'

Celebrities, local dignitaries and business leaders dined on international fare from six of the hotel's signature restaurants – Rang Mahal by Atul Kochhar, Izakaya, Tong Thai, Prime 68 La Farina and the Arabic Restaurant– while enjoying premium beverages from Dubai's newest night spot, Vault. Virgin Radio's Simon Heng and television presenter Diala Makki were the emcee's during the evening, guiding guests through a series of live performances by some of the world's most exciting artists. In just five minutes, world-renowned live artist Jean Pierre Blanchard astonished guests by transforming a blank canvas into a stunning image of surprise headline act Leona Lewis. Guests were then treated to an electrifying live performance of Lewis' hit song Bleeding Love as well as tracks from her new album, Glassheart.

Other entertainment highlights included two performances by classical pop sensation, 2CELLOS. Young Croatian cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser achieved international fame when a YouTube clip of their unique cello version of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal took the world by storm. Their viral success led to a record deal with Sony Masterworks and an invitation to join Elton John on his worldwide tour. 2CELLOS wowed party guests with their eclectic mix of classical, pop and rock. Marriott International (NYSE:MAR) announced today plans to open a new 162-room Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil's largest and most modern city in the Northeastern region of the country. The hotel project is developed under a management agreement with Rio Ave Ltda., a prominent, local real estate developer. This project, already in construction, will be the Rio Ave Ltda's first venture into the lodging sector and is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2014, before the World Cup. The new Courtyard by Marriott property will be located ten minutes from the Guararapes International Airport, and situated in Recife's upscale Boa Viagem neighborhood known for its great shopping, five star restaurants, and close proximity to the beautiful beaches.

' With the brand's strong reputation and preference in Latin America, we are confident that the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Recife will be very successful.'

In addition to 162 guest rooms, the 12 story hotel will feature the brand's refreshing business lobby, a casual dining restaurant, 300 square meters (3,230 sq. feet) of meeting space, recreational facilities include a swimming pool and a fitness center and ample parking.
